Job Summary
The Sustainability Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing sustainability strategies that promote environmental, social, and governance (ESG) objectives. The role focuses on improving environmental performance, ensuring regulatory compliance, promoting sustainable practices, and supporting corporate social responsibility initiatives. This position requires strong analytical, strategic, and project management skills to drive sustainability programs across the organization.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Implement, monitor, and evaluate the Bank’s sustainability strategy and programs in line with the KCBT Green Agenda.
- Coordinate the roll out of sustainable policies and practices across departments, ensuring alignment with organisational goals.
- Train staff and integrate the Social and Environmental Management System (SEMS) into business processes.
- Design and implement awareness programs for employees and other stakeholders through physical and e-learning platforms.
- Coordinate and support internal business stakeholders in executing sustainability initiatives.
- Develop and apply tools to assess, evaluate and monitor the viability or success of sustainability initiatives and programs.
- Conduct research on emerging environmental sustainability issues, concerns, or stakeholder interests and advise the business appropriately.
- Prepare communication plans and materials for the Bank`s sustainability initiatives and strategies in line to the international best practices to various key Bank`s stakeholders, they include campaigns etc.
- Manage sustainability reporting and maintain related data and knowledge systems.
- Implement and manage the bank’s sustainability database and knowledge management.
- Review sustainability program objectives, progress, or status to ensure compliance with policies, standards, regulations, or laws.
- Identify partnerships and green pilot projects that enhance the bank’s sustainability positioning.
Educational Qualifications, Experience, & Skills Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Environmental Management, Engineering, or related field
- Master’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Management, or Business Administration is an added advantage
- Professional certifications in sustainability or environmental management are an added advantage
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in sustainability, environmental management, ESG, or CSR roles
- Experience in corporate, manufacturing, energy, banking, or development sectors is an advantage
- Experience managing sustainability programs and reporting
- Strong knowledge of sustainability and ESG frameworks
- Excellent analytical and strategic planning skills
- Strong project management and reporting abilities
- Knowledge of environmental regulations and standards
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
